There is really only one way in World of Warcraft to accomplish such necessities as leveling, earning money, getting items and just generally becoming more powerful.

If you have any extra time while playing, the best way to spend that time is by questing. When a quest opportunity presents itself, take advantage of it and if another one is waiting as soon as you finish the one you’re on, go ahead and jump into the fray.

To get information about your questing history, simply hit “L” to call up your quest log. Here you will find all the pertinent information about the quests you have, including the requirements as well as the rewards. To make things somewhat less complicated, quests are divided by region.

The first thing to look for is whether there is an exclamation point or a question mark above the NPC’s head. Next, notice the color of the point or mark.

A yellow exclamation point means that a question can be undertaken immediately, while a gray one means you’ll have to reach a higher level and then come back to try it. If the question mark is yellow, that indicates that you are expected to return with completed items or news regarding the quest.

Those aren’t the only color codes associated with questing, however. In order to gauge the difficulty of the quest in relation to your present level, the quests are coded by color.

They range in order of difficulty in the following colors: Gray, green, yellow, orange and red. The gray quests are less than easy, usually not even worth the effort.

The red quests are incredibly hard. In addition, quests can be identified with the following descriptions: Dungeon, in which the quest will take you into a dungeon; Elite, in which successful completion will probably require a group effort; and Raid, in which a large group will be needed.

Even though it’s best to complete as many quests as you can in order to get more powerful, understand that you aren’t expected to complete every single quest. For one thing, there are an astounding number of quests that you will come across.

For another, once you’ve reached a higher level, it makes much more sense to ignore the easier quests and go after the ones with more difficulty. You’ll get better rewards and more experience.

You can only keep a maximum of twenty quests in your quest log. Once you hit your max, you’ll have to abandon an existing quest before you can add another one.
