Looking for a more intense and personalized experience when playing World of Warcraft? Want the ability to explore and complete quests away from the rabble, or even away from your fellow guild members? What do you know about dungeons?

Did you know that there exists areas on world dungeons like Medivh’s Tower called instanced zones? Did you know that within these zones there are monsters even more powerful than those you’ve already faced? These instance zones are copies that are made especially for you and your friends.

That means that only you and whomever you invite to play area allowed into the game. Nobody else can play; it is fully spawned and created specifically for your party.

So how do these things work? You and your party enter one of the world dungeons. You recognize the instance dungeon by the blue energy swirls that mark the portal.

You enter it.

A few minutes later, say, a second party comes across this portal. When they enter it, they are taken to another copy of the instance dungeon. You are in copy 1 and they are in copy 2. As long as both parties remain inside the instance dungeon, no matter what else they do or whatever may happen, your party will never come in contact with the second party.

For that matter, even if a third, fifth or tenth party enters, none of them will come in contact with another other.

If, however, someone in the third party decides that they want to join in your instance, this can be done. First, they must exit the instance zone and your party must then invite that person in to your instance. He then zones in and can be summoned into the first instance zone.

Game play can be significantly different inside an instance dungeon. It takes more work and skill to successfully complete quests inside one of these.

In addition, successful completion of a quest within an instance dungeon often requires that you solve certain special tricks, puzzles or other brainteasers.

So what exactly are the benefits from going up against more powerful monsters within a more difficult style of gameplay? Well, for one thing, there is the challenge. The game is never more fun than when you are stretched to your limit.

And if that isn’t enough, you can also expect to find treasures that you simply aren’t going to get anywhere else.

All in all, instance dungeons in World of Warcraft are there to provide you with a more personal kind of experience that you just can’t get outside of them.
